Guest Organist to Perform at Melville

The music of Bach, Mendelssoh, Brahms, Hesse and others will be featured in an evening of organ music at Melville United Church on Saturday September 13 at 7:30 p.m. with guest organist Eva Reber, from Muenster Heilsbronn, Germany and Melville organist and choir director Matthias Schmidt.

Reber, an active concert organist and director of music in a Romanesque church in Heilsbronn Germany will play her first concert in Canada.

Schmidt, formerly from East Germany and now living in Guelph, studied music with Reber at the Music School of Berlin, studied under John Tuttle in Toronto and has performed recitals in Germany and Canada. As part of a varied repertoire, the two friends will perform The Phantasie for organ for 4 hands, which should be interesting and entertaining for the audience as well as being fun for the musicians.

Tickets to this concert of German Baroque and Romantic organ music are $10 (children under 12 free) and refreshments will be served at 9:00 p.m. Proceeds will go to Melville's Raise the Roof campaign for new windows.
